And I try them all with a variety of foundation so it's not just the combination that's the problem -- it's just that my skin doesn't play nice with powder.
So I was intrigued when I heard about BECCA's Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder because they claimed it has "a revitalizing mist-like effect on skin."
When you've got dry skin, that sounds pretty promising.
The powder comes in the usual plastic tub with a silver metallic lid, which contains 10 grams of product. Inside, there's a second hinged plastic lid that locks in place to keep the powder cool and moist. There's also a soft mesh screen over the entire tub that allows you to shake out a small amount of the powder.

The powder is translucent, though it has a slightly pink tone to it. I think it would work on most skin tones, though, because it also melts into the skin so there's no real color left behind.
Because it really does have a cool, almost wet feel when you apply it to your skin, and since it's so finely-milled, it doesn't look heavy or cakey on the skin. I don't find that it really clings to dry patches either.
Which is to say, me and my dry skin love this powder.
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I'm not wearing much in the winter because my skin is even more dry than usual and I never really need setting powder in cold weather, but I am still using it to set the concealer under my eyes and anywhere else on my face that might need it.
The one thing I don't love about this powder?
It costs $39, which is pretty steep for a setting powder if you ask me.
But if you want an indication of how much I love this stuff, I'm fully prepared to shell out another $39 when I run out.
You can purchase it on the BECCA website, at Sephora, and Ulta.
Have you tried the BECCA Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder? Are you a fan? What's your favorite setting powder these days?
