At this point, I'm not really sure that the world really needs another Chocolate Bar from Too Faced.
They've pretty much covered all the bases in this vein, haven't they?
And yet, every time they come out with a new palette in the line, I want it.
Which is why the Chocolate Gold Eye Shadow Palette wound up on my holiday wish list.
If nothing else, Too Faced definitely knocked it out of the park with the packaging for this palette.
Like the other Chocolate Bar Palettes, the compact is long and rectangular and features quilted to resemble a chocolate bar. However, there's a cool dripping gold design on half of the palette, which really makes it a standout.

Inside the palette, there is a generous sized mirror, but it doesn't stay open by itself, so you'll need to prop it up against something if you want to use it to do your makeup.
The shadows also have the same yummy chocolate-y scent that the other palettes in the line do, though I think this one might even smell a little bit better, if that's possible.
The palette contains 16 shadows (with 2 of the shadows larger than the rest as just like with the other Chocolate Bar palettes).
The shades include: Money Bags, a metallic forest green; Chocolate Gold, a metallic yellow gold; Rich Girl, a metallic pink taupe; Cocoa Truffle, a matte mid-tone brown; Decadent, a matte black; Love & Cocoa, a metallic deep bronze; Old Money, a metallic copper; New Money, a metallic hot pink; Famous, a metallic golden bronze; Classy & Sassy, a metallic pink champagne; So Boujee, a matte light brown; Holla for a Dolla, a metallic olive; Gold Dipped, a metallic bright gold; Livin' Lavish, a metallic royal purple; Drippin' Diamonds, a metallic silver; and Rollin' In Dough, a matte ivory.

Don't get me wrong -- I love me some warm shadows, but it seems like very palette that comes out these days is loaded with red, orange, and yellow tones.
It's made me seriously yearn for something just a little bit different.
The Chocolate Gold Palette has some warm tones, but it also offers some cooler options that make it a little more versatile.

There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's just not a palette that I find myself reaching for on an everyday basis.
Now, if your complexion isn't stupidly fair like mine you'll probably be able to do a lot more with the shades in this palette.
In terms of formula, I think Too Faced has done a really nice job.
The metallics are richly pigmented and not at all flaky, while the mattes are smooth and creamy. The shadows apply nicely, and blend really well, so it's an easy palette to work with.
All that said, I don't really see this as a must-have or essential palette.
It's nice, but I'll probably only use it every once in a while -- and it costs $49, so it's pretty pricey.
I just think there are more versatile palettes out there.
You can purchase the palette on the Too Faced website or at Sephora.
Have you tried the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eye Shadow Palette? Are you a fan?
