Product Review -- Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette

I've been a big fan of Too Faced's matte eyeshadow formula for years -- all the way back to their original matte shadow palette in the little square box that I believe has long since been discontinued.

The Natural Matte Eye Shadow Collection, which is still available, is another favorite of mine, though, so I'm pretty much always willing to give a Too Faced matte palette a try.

Especially when it's part of the Sweet Peach collection.

I am such as sucker for peach makeup products.

So I knew that I had to have the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette from the first moment I saw a photo of it on Instagram.

Now, if you're sick of warm red and orange shadow palettes, I totally get that (I know I keep buying them, but I'd really like to see a makeup brand take a walk on the cool side of the color wheel for a change).

And if you're not a fan of all matte palettes, I get that too. (I used to hate matte shadows myself, but I've somehow fallen in love with them over the years.)

But if you're into the whole peachy, rusty, berry inspired color palette and are a fan of matte shadows, then the Just Peachy Mattes is definitely worthy of your consideration.

Right off the bat, the packaging gets an A+ in my book -- it comes in a hard plastic compact with pretty peach-inspired artwork and gold metallic details. The clasp features two gold peaches, which are just beyond adorable.

There is a good size mirror inside that stays open by itself, so it works well for doing your makeup on the road.

The palette contains 12 shadows that are sort of peach candy-scented -- the scent isn't exactly the same as the Sweet Peach Palette, which is a little too sickly sweet for my taste. I think Too Faced did a little better with the scent for the Just Peachy Mattes.

The shades include: Peach Meringue, ivory; Peach Tea, caramel; Peach Cobbler, toasted peach; Peach Tart, deep brown; Peach Butter, peach cream; Just Peachy, mid-tone peach; Peach Punch, coral; Just Ripe, red plum; Peach and Cream, light peach; Fresh-Picked, peachy brown; Peach Sangria, deep wine; and Chocolate Dipped, black brown.

I do want to point out that one shade, Peach Sangria, isn't exactly a matte. It has some very fine shimmer that gives it more of a satin finish on the eyes.

With the exception of two shades, Peach Punch and Peach Sangria, all of the shadows have a smooth, creamy feel. Peach Punch and Peach Sangria feel slightly drier, but I suspect that has something to do with the reddish tones in them because I've come across quite a few matte reddish shadows that have the same dry texture.

The good news is that all of the shades are nicely pigmented and blend easily -- and they do so with becoming muddy or disappearing.

Personally, I think the color range is gorgeous as well. As I said, I am starting to get a little tired of the whole warm, natural shadow obsession myself, but the shades in this palette totally speak to me.

While there are the peachy and orange tones that you'd expect from a palette called Just Peachy, I love the berry, plum, and wine tones that are included as well. They pair so well with the peachy shadows, and there are some brown and cream shades thrown in too for a pretty balanced palette.

In addition to the shades themselves being lovely, Too Faced did a good job in choosing a range of light, mid-tone, and dark shades, so Just Peachy Mattes definitely works well as a standalone palette.

Too Faced includes a pamphlet with look ideas for the palette.
The palette retails for $45, and is available on the Too Faced website and Sephora.

If you like matte shadows and are a fan of the whole warm, peachy color scheme, I definitely recommend checking the Just Peachy Mattes out.

Have you tried the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette? Are you a fan?
