Product Review -- COVERGIRL truBlend Face Primer for Dry Skin

I haven't had too much trouble finding a primer that works with my dry skin.

I'm a big fan of  the IT Cosmetics' Feel the Moment Primer Serum, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil, and Hourglass No. 28 Primer, all of which features oils that really hydrate and smooth the skin, so it's ready for foundation application.

But while I love those primers, they're all pretty pricey, so I've long been on the hunt for a more budget-friendly option that would still work with my dry skin.

Fortunately, COVERGIRL has introduced a series of primers in their truBlend line that are targeted for specific skin types, including oily, dry, and combination -- so I was really excited to try the truBlend Face Primer for Dry Skin.
Unlike the higher end primers I mentioned, this one is silicone-based, which made me a little nervous because I've found that silicone primers aren't usually the best fit for dry skin.

However, the truBlend Face Primer for Dry Skin doesn't have that usual silicone-y texture. This one is lightweight and creamy, so it blends easily into the skin. COVERGIRL recommends using a dime-sized amount, but I find I don't even need that much to cover my entire face.

It also comes in a convenient squeeze tube, so it's easy to dispense just the right amount.

Now, of course, the most important question about a primer marketed for dry skin is how well does it hydrate?

I'd say that this primer is pretty moisturizing. It's been great right now when the weather's warming up so my skin isn't dry as the desert.

Of course, I'm not entirely sure that it'll be hydrating enough for the dead of winter when my skin is super dry, though. But that's okay -- it's nice to have a lighter weight option for the warm weather.

If your skin is always incredibly dry, though, this might not be the best option for you. Otherwise, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

And best of all, it retails for approximately $9 -- and I got mine when COVERGIRL was BOGO-half off at Ulta, so it was an even better deal.

Have you tried the COVERGIRL truBlend Face Primer for Dry Skin? How does it work for you?
