Product Review -- NYC LOVATICS by Demi Eyeshadow Palette

The original Urban Decay Naked Palette has been out for several years now, and in that time, everyone and their mother has tried to dupe it.

I've tried plenty of budget-friendly attempts at duplicating the color shade and performance of the Naked Palette, but it's not only recently that I've found one that really delivers.

It may sound like an overstatement, but it's seriously impossible to imagine a palette that mimics the Naked shades, offers quality shadows, and is a better value that the NYC LOVATICS by Demi Palette in Natural (as far as I can tell, this is the only shade range that the palette's available in at the moment).

Because this little baby is only $4.99 -- and has some of the best quality eye shadows that I've found in a drugstore palette in years.

(Demi Lovato is the spokesperson behind this palette, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. I can't imagine she'd want to attach her name to an underwhelming palette.)

Like the UD Naked Palette, the LOVACTICS by Demi Palette contains 12 shadows. They're not named, but are instead numbered on the back, where NYC provides ideas for how to use the palette as quads. The shades are nearly identical to the shadows in the Naked Palette, with only slight variations, such as some shades being lighter or darker than others.

In terms of formula, these NYC shadows are pretty impressive, especially considering the price of the palette. They're all nicely pigmented, creamy, and smooth, so they blend and apply easily. With a primer under them, they last all day too.

For less than $5, it really doesn't get any better than this.

Of course, this palette isn't going to win any points for originality. If you have the original UD Naked Palette, you probably don't need this in your collection.

However, if you've held back from buying the Naked Palette because of the price, this is the perfect alternative. It's also a great option for folks just getting into makeup and don't have a large budget to work with -- and it may be the ideal choice if you've run out of certain shades in your UD Naked Palette and can't stomach spending $54 to replace one or two shades.

Basically, if you've been thinking about picking this palette up, just do it. You won't regret it.
