Product Review -- Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour

Contour kits are all the rage these days, whether it's palettes that house several contour and highlight shades together or those that feature a contour, blush, and highlight shade.

I'm not super into contouring -- I mean, I'll do it more often than not, but it's extremely subtle because my skin is so fair that it can look seriously harsh if I'm not careful -- but I'm still always interested in trying new contour kits.

Particularly the ones that have started to pop up in drugstores.

The Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour is a kit that contains a contour, blush, and highlight shade. It comes in a black plastic compact with a small brush inside. The brush isn't really suitable for applying the contour or blush shades, in my opinion, but it works well enough for applying the highlighter to the cheekbones.

Both the contour and blush shades are matte, while the highlighter has a subtle shimmery finish. The formula for all three, though, is quite nice -- smooth, creamy, and well pigmented.

Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour in Light to Medium
I purchased the kit in the lightest shade, Light to Medium 10, and I can use the contour shade, but I personally feel like it's a tad to warm for a contour. It seems more appropriate for bronzing up the skin, actually.

Still, if I blend well enough, it works for a nice, subtle contour.

The blush is a pretty rosy pink shade that would work with most skin tones, while the highlight is a lovely pale gold.

Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour (l. to r.): Contour, Blush, Highlight
I think the shades all work well together, and it's certainly convenient to have all the face products you need to do your cheeks in one spot, especially for travel.

The kit retails for approximately $12.99 wherever Maybelline products are sold, which I think is a good value for the three products. Plus, drugstores are often running BOGO-1/2 off sales, so you may be able to get it for an even better price.

I definitely recommend the Master Contour for people just starting out with contouring or folks who want a no-fuss kit for doing it quickly.

Have you tried the Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour?  Are you a fan?
