Review -- Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oils

If you had asked me what I thought of cream blushes back when I first started wearing makeup, I probably would have told you I hated them.

They just seemed so much harder to use that good old powder blushes and I didn't have any patience for it at all.

Fast forward several years when my skin started becoming drier and I may not be cream blush's biggest fan.

It can give the skin such a nice, healthy, dewy glow and in most cases, it looks so very natural on your cheeks.

(And even if you've got oily skin and don't feel like you can wear cream blush, try using it as a base for your favorite powder blush. You'll get more color and better staying power, I promise!)

As big a fan as I am of cream blush, I'm an equally big fan of Josie Maran's cosmetics. Now, I know they're probably not for everyone because they tend to offer a more natural, softer look, but I am hooked.

That's why I couldn't wait to try the Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oils.

Like most (all?) of the Josie Maran products, these are infused with argan oil, so they're hydrating and have a nice, smooth consistency.

They're not like your usual cream blushes int that instead of a compact or little pot, they come in squeezable tubes, which makes it easy to squeeze out just the right amount.

While they blushes are fairly sheer, they are still nicely pigmented so you don't need a ton of product to get a really nice flush on the cheeks.

The blushes are available individually, but I actually purchased a set from QVC that included five shades: Everlasting Honey, a pinky nude; Forever Rose, a netural rose pink; Endless Guava, a bright pink; Boundless Berry, a cool wine; and Always Cherry, a bright red.

From l. to r.: Everlasting Honey, Forever Rose, Endless Guava, Boundless Berry, Always Cherry
They are all fairly thick, but blend easily -- they almost seem to melt into the skin when you start to blend. Because they're sheer, they look incredibly natural and they provide a nice dewy finish that's especially flattering for dry or mature skin.

I love all the shades, but Forever Rose is probably my favorite. It's perfect for everyday wear and goes with virtually any eye look.

When I wear these in warmer weather, I do tend to set them -- either with a powder blush in a similar color or a translucent powder -- to get them to last as long as possible. If you have oily skin, I would recommend this method because they will probably disappear fairly quickly otherwise.

If you have darker skin, you'll probably want to layer these to get the most impact. You can apply a powder blush over them, or apply one layer of the Creamy Oil, let it 'dry' down a bit, and add a little more.

On my fair skin, I find that I need to use my foundation brush or sponge to blend these in a little more because the brighter shades, even though they're sheer, can be a little too bold on pale skin.

To apply the blushes, I squeeze a small dot onto my stainless steel makeup palette (I got mine from Crown Brush and absolutely can't live without it!) and use the e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush to dab and then blend it onto the cheeks.

I wear these all the time, but they're especially pretty on days when you want a more natural makeup look. I'll wear a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, a nude cream shadow, some mascara, the Creamy Oil, and gloss, and it's such a fresh, easy look.

I don't wear them on my lips very often, but they do actually work well for that. They're creamy so they feel very comfortable on the lips. Again, it's a more natural, almost stained effect, but it can be very pretty.

Oh, and they have a pretty nice scent as well -- kind of rose-y.

The Creamy Oils retail for $18 at Sephora and Josie Maran. You can also purchase a kit with five shades from QVC for $60.

I definitely recommend these for folks with dry or normal skin -- they look so lovely, natural, and fresh.

For oily or combination skin folks, I would suggest going to Sephora and checking out the texture and consistency yourself to see if you think it would cooperate with your skin.

Have you tried the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oils? Are you a fan?
