Review -- L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints

A few months back, I bought a Too Faced kit from Sephora that contained one of the Melted Liquified Long-Wear Lipstick and though I'd seen some pretty good reviews of the product, I wasn't overly impressed.

I didn't hate it or anything, but I just didn't think it was worth the $21 price tag that the full-size Melteds go for.

Especially when there's an incredibly similar product that costs a fraction of the price and performs just as well.

The L.A.Girl Glazed Lip Paints are very similar to Too Faced's Melted Lipsticks in terms of pigmentation and texture, but you can pick them up for $4 each.

Pretty amazing, right?

For me, though, finding L.A. Girl products around here can be tough and finding these in stores proved impossible. I ordered mine through Amazon, but you can also get them through the L.A. Girl website.

I started out buying a set of four Lip Glazes in nude/pink shades -- and I liked them so much that I bought eight more.

And I think I might pick up the rest too.

That's how much I like them.

The shades I purchased include: Whisper, a beige nude; Elude, a pinky nude; Flirt, a bright bubblegum pink; Peony, a bright peachy pink; Whimsical, a bright lilac; Coy, a bright purple; Babydoll, a bright purple-y pink; Blushing, a mid-tone plum; Bombshell, a deep fucshia; Tango, a bright reddish orange; Hot Mess, a mid-tone orange; and Pin-Up, a true red.

The packaging for the Glazed Lip Paints is similar to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks -- it's a squeeze tube with a slant-tip applicator. Some of the shades are fine to apply directly from the tube, but some of the brighter shades can require a lip brush for getting a clean, neat look. I don't find that I need lip liner with them, though your mileage may vary.

They have a highly glossy finish, but none of the shade contain any shimmer or glitter so it's a pretty sophisticated look.

And like the Melted Lipsticks, the Glazed Lip Paints have a smooth, non-sticky texture. They also have a minty scent that I quite like. They're extremely comfortable on the lips and while they don't last all day, they hang around for a good five or so hours -- and even once the gloss wears off, there's usually a pretty stain left behind.

The pigmentation is seriously intense, which is great if you're going for a bold lip. But you can also sheer them out a bit by applying a small amount and blending them in with your finger.

(I thought I'd point out that I purchased a lot of bright, bold shades that I wouldn't normally because I wouldn't wear them enough to justify the purchase. But because these only cost $4 each, I went a little out of my comfort zone and I've had fun branching out with my lip color a bit.

I've also had fun mixing some of the shades together -- I'll use the nude shades to tone down one of the brighter colors by squeezing out a small amount of each and mixing them together with a lip brush.)

Because the color range is so large -- there are 18 shades in total -- there's bound to be one out there for everyone -- so I definitely recommend picking up one (or eight, if you're a glutton like me).

They're only $4 each! How can you beat that?

Have you tried the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints? Which shade is your favorite?

  1. I´m tempted to buy one or two of those now. The price is pretty much unbeateable. My first choices would be "pin-up" and "blushing" - they are gorgeous! Thanks for showing these! :)

    1. You definitely should. These are pretty fab, especially when you consider the price. I think Blushing is my favorite, though there are a ton of pretty shades.
