Review -- Pixi Shade Quartettes in Shades of Nude, Shades of Taupe, and Shades of Peach

I haven't tried a ton of products from Pixi, but every time I do come across one, I'm usually impressed.

So when Pixi was recently available on HauteLook, I picked up a few things to play with.

The Shade Quartettes caught me eye because the concept intrigued me (and also because I'm pretty sure I saw the fabulous Lisa Eldridge use one in one of her tutorials once upon a time) -- they are tone-on-tone wheels of coordinated eye shadows meant to create the perfect natural eye.

I love natural eye makeup so these seemed like an ideal addition to my makeup bag.

I picked up three of the quartettes -- Shades of Nude, Shades of Taupe, and Shades of Peach.

Shades of Nude includes neutral nude, tan, and brown tones.

Shades of Peach includes warm peachy shades.

Each quartette features one matte shade. The rest of the shadows are shimmery or satin-finish.

They come in Pixi's usually pale green packaging, but instead of being housed in compacts, they feature twist off plastic lids with the tradmark Pixi pixie in the center.

In terms of formula, these shadows are lovely. They're soft, easy to blend, and nicely pigmented. With my usual eye primer underneath, they last all day without creasing too.

In terms of shadows, you will likely love at least one of the quartettes if you're a fan of natural eye looks. There isn't a great deal of variation among the shadows in each quartette, so the overall effect is really soft and subtle.

The Shades of Peach Quartette is my favorite because I love peachy shadows, but it's also the quartette with the least variation among the shades.

Shades of Taupe and Shades of Nude are somewhat similar, with Shades of Taupe leaning more toward the cool end of the spectrum (it's my second favorite -- so pretty!), so I don't think you necessarily need both in your collection.

There is a fourth quartette, Shades of Daylight, that features a golden brown, a golden ivory, a light gold, and golden peach shadows. I kind of want to get that one too to complete the set, which I know is nuts, but it's a nice collection of shadows if you prefer warm shades.

Right now, the Shade Quartettes are marked down from their original price of $22 to $11 (which I believe is what I paid on HauteLook), so I don't know if they're being discontinued or not. If you're interested, I would probably buy them sooner rather than later.

You can also find them at your local Target in you prefer buying in person.

I definitely recommend them if you like a natural eye looks -- and the shadow formula is impressive enough that I'll definitely try more Pixi shadows in the future without reservation.

Have you tried the Pixi Shade Quartettes? Which is your favorite? What's your favorite Pixi product overall?
