Too Faced Boudouir Beauty Collection - Boudouir Eyes and Sweethearts Blush

Too Faced Boudoir Beauty Collection for Spring 2013
I always look forward to Too Faced's seasonal collections - from the packaging to the products themselves, there's usually something that just calls my name.

For Spring 2013, Too Faced offers the Boudoir Beauty collection, which features products that are designed to give you a really soft, romantic look.

I love that kind of look, so this collection is definitely right up my alley.

In particular, the Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection ($36) and Sweethearts Blush ($29) caught my eye.

The Boudoir Eyes Shadow Collection is similiar to Too Faced's other themed palettes like the Naked Eye Shadow Collection and Matte Eye Collection in that it contains nine shadows - 6 smaller shadows that are each 0.9 grams and 3 larger shadows that are 2 grams each.

However, instead of the traditional cardboard packaging that the other palettes feature, the Boudoir Eyes Collection comes in a durable little tin that resembles a quilted box.  It's also more compact than the other palettes, which I also prefer.

The shades in the palettes are: In the Buff, a matte bone color; Fuzzy Handcuffs, a satin peach; Voulez-Vous, a shimmery violet; Satin Sheets, a shimmery light pink; Sugar Walls, a shimmery light pink-brown with silver glitter; Garter Belt, a matte purpley-gray; Birthday Suit, a shimmery nude; Lap Dance, a shimmery lilac; and French Tickler, a dark matte purple with silver glitter.

All of the shadows in this collection are beautiful.  The shades are definitely perfect for creating a soft, romantic look, but there are also a few dark shades to smoke out any look if you want a little more drama.  Like all of Too Faced's shadows, the formula for all of the shades in the palette are excellent - smooth, creamy and easy to blend.

My complaint with the palette is that if you have some of the other Too Faced Shadow Collections, there are a few repeat shades in the Boudoir Eyes.  In particular, there are four repeats from the Naked Eye Collection - In the Buff, Birthday Suit, Satin Sheets, and Lap Dance. If Too Faced really wants to make consumers buy more than one of their palettes, they'd be smart to limit the number of duplicates, wouldn't they?

Still, if you don't have the Naked Eye Collection and like soft, feminine shadow looks, this is a lovely palette.

The Sweethearts Blush definitely scores points for extra cute packaging. It comes in a heart-shaped box all decked out in pink and gold that would look absolutely adorable sitting out on your vanity.

The blush is a baked formula that features three different colors side-by-side - rose, peach and coral.  You can swirl your brush through all of the shades to mix them together, or use a little more of one color or another to customize your flush.

I was pretty unimpressed when I first swatched the blush because the shades all appear pretty sheer.

However, I have to admit that on the cheeks, the blush delivers a really pretty, soft glow - at least on my fair skin. I'm not sure it would be dark enough to show up if you have a deeper skin tone.  I'd test it out at Sephora before purchasing.

I received both the Boudoir Eyes Collection and the Sweethearts Blush as gifts, and I'm really happy with them. But if I'd paid for them myself, I think that I might be a little disappointed in having so many repeat shadows in the palette and the blush being somewhat sheer.

That said, I would recommend these as Valentine's Day gifts for friends and family - they're the kind of things that you wouldn't want to spend money on yourself but enjoy having in your collection.

And the romance theme makes them perfect for Valentine's Day.

Have you picked up anything from the Too Faced Boudoir Beauty Collection?  Is anyone as intrigued as I am by the Air-Buffed BB Creme Complete Coverage Makeup?

  1. I love the packaging of the blush, but overall, I'm not really drawn to these. I have the Naked Eye Palette, and several of the shadows it are really sheer. Since we have a very similar complexion, I'm sure the blush would look nice on me, but I can't see myself paying $30 for it.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yeah, if you have the Naked Palette, you can definitely skip this one. The shadows are nice, but I'm sure there are plenty of dupes out there.

I was kind of stunned that the blush was $29. I'd have a hard time paying that much for it. I will happily take it as a gift though. LOL
