May goodies! |
This month, I'll skip my usual trite, cliched bit about how I can't believe we're already at June because you must be sick of all that now.
(Even though it's absolutely true - I could swear Christmas was just a few weeks ago...)
I posted last week about how much I love Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation (in shade Ivoire 1(N)), and it was definitely a favorite this month. It's a medium coverage foundation, which is usually what I favor, but it feels nice and lightweight on the skin so it's perfect for warmer weather. The packaging pimps it as "Lit-From-Within-Makeup" - and it truly is. The finish leaves your skin with a wonderfully natural glow. I adore it.

As pale as I am, I've never really been able to wear bronzer. Some work all right as a contour, but even that can get dicey since so many bronzers look orange-y on me. Enter Too Faced's Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Milk Chocolate, a very light, true brown matte bronzer that actually works on my super fair skin. You can read my full review here, and in May, while I used it mostly for contouring, I did experiment with using it as an all-over bronzer - and I love it. With a nice peachy blush, it looks really natural and perks my face up just enough.

Speaking of peachy blushes...
I've mentioned before how much I love the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes, and in May, I wore the blush in Peaceful to death. It's a gorgeous shimmery peach shade that just gives the cheeks the most beautiful glow - which looks especially pretty for the spring and summer. I got Peaceful in a TSV kit from Tarte, and I'm not sure that you can buy it on its own... but if you see it on eBay or anywhere else, snatch it up!

When it came to the eyes, I leaned on the Bare Escentuals' Ready Eyeshadow Duo in The Top Shelf heavily this month. I am a huge fan of the Ready pressed shadow formula - the shadows are seriously pigmented, smooth and super easy to blend. The Top Shelf duo includes Mixologist, a shimmery champagne, and Cognac, a gorgeous golden brown. All throughout the month, I wore Mixologist on the lid and inner corner and Cognac in the crease for the prettiest - but really subtle - eye look. With some mascara and dark brown liner, it's a simple, polished look that works especially well on blue eyes. I can't recommend these shadows enough.

Just as with blushes, I am pretty much addicted to peachy lip colors, and in May, I wore NYX's Round Lipstick in Iris almost everyday. Iris is a golden peach color that has a metallic finish, so it does a terrific job brightening up the face. It's seriously affordable too (I think that I paid about $3 for it), so it's great option if you're on a budget.

As I'm writing this post, I realize that I wore every single one of the items mentioned today... so you may see some of these turn up in my June favorites as well. I can't help it. I like them *that* much.
What were your favorites in May?
