When it comes to choosing a ‘Favorite’ in any beauty
category, I tend to ask myself , “If I could only wear one color/product/brand
etc. for the rest of my life, what would it be?”
That might seem like the obvious way to approach the topic,
but sometimes it can be counter-intuitive.
For example, my favorite color is blue. I love blue nail
polishes – light blue, dark navy, glittery royal blue, turquoise, all of
them. But if you ask me my favorite nail
polish, it wouldn’t be a blue shade. I
wouldn’t want to have blue nails for the rest of my life.
Still, I can’t be too practical about the whole thing
because that’s just not me. I mean, a pale pink or a nude color is probably the
best polish to be stuck with for life but I think I’d get bored after a week or
two.
Instead, when I think about all the colors in my polish
collection – and it’s got to include more than 30 polishes at this point – I
have to say that my favorite is Sephora by OPI’s Meet for Drinks ($9.50).
Sephora by OPI's Meet for Drinks |
The Sephora website describes the shade as an opaque
metallic magenta plum. It’s definitely opaque and has a metallic finish, but I
see it more as a wine color that magenta or plum. Either way, it’s a rich, dark
shade that looks sophisticated and elegant with my pale skin. I definitely wear
it more in the fall and winter than spring or summer, but I use it year round
since I love the color so much. In fact, it’s always the shade that I paint my
nails when I’m going on vacation – which has included trips to the beach, quiet
weekends in Connecticut, and adventures in Vegas.
In general, I find the Sephora by OPI polish formula to be
pretty hit or miss. Meet for Drinks is a serious hit for me, though, and it
lasts a good four days on my nails without chipping. (That might not seem like
a long time, but usually I can barely get three days out of a polish before it
starts chipping no matter what base or top coats I use.)
What are your favorite nail polish colors? Do you have a favorite brand?
I am obsessing about Rescue Beauty's Bikin Bottom nail polish.. I just can't get over the 18 dollar price tag.. but I just love the color!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right - that's a gorgeous light blue shade! But like you, I have a hard time paying that much for polish. It's funny becuase I spend plenty of money on makeup but I get a little twitchy when I pay more than $10 for nail polish (or mascara, but that's another story...)
DeleteThe most amazing mascara for 3.99 is Jordana "Best lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara". wow, my lashes are insane, I got all the girls in the office wearing this.
ReplyDeletehave you tried it yet????
I haven't tried that one yet, but it definitely sounds promising! I do have a tough time finding Jordana products near me, so I'll have to track it down online. Thanks for the suggestion!
